LOT 11 - The Mystery Elf BY DAME SHIRLEY BASSEYThe Magical Fashion Fantasia Ball was held in support of the bee a friend appeal, a joint initiative between the National Kidney Research Fund and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Trust to raise funds towards developing The Renal Institute, incorporating a dedicated transplant ward.

Organised by party supremo Liz Brewer on behalf of the Fund and generously supported by many individuals and organisations including Laurent-Perrier, Burberry and Mikimoto Pearls, it is hoped that the glittering ball will help raise significant funds to get the appeal well on the road to achieving its fundraising aim.

A diamond-festooned denim jacket by Eric Way, worth a million dollars, proved a most revealing attraction at the Magical Fashion Fantasia with Wizards, Wings and Wands. Money was raised for the appeal by the auction of 11 elf mannequins, clothed and bejewelled by famous designers. VIPs present at the event, held at Mayfair's Millennium Hotel, included Dame Shirley Bassey and Miss World, Agbani Darego.
