Review of the Manchester Concert
By Ed

When Dame Shirley entered the stage in her silver shiny sequined dress radiating as much as anyone can possibly radiate and emitting such energy and happiness, you knew you were in for an amazing night. An amazing night is what we got, from the start the Dame was relaxed, chatting to the audience and accepting countless gifts from audience members. She really was on form! The Manchester Arena isn't the best venue, but Shirley pulled it off singing with her usual power and emotion, and such a varied selection of songs for everyone's tastes!

Shirley commented that it had been a long time since she had been in Manchester, and that she was glad to be back! The years had flown by, but it was one hell of a journey. It really was a treat to hear amazing versions of the all-time classics, and the version of "How Do You Keep The Music Playing?" was too good for words, before tonight I probably didn't rank this song amongst my favourites (if that is possible!) but now, what can I say? - such power and emotion, I am not ashamed to say that there were tears running down my cheeks! It was especially nice to hear "A Lot Of Livin' To Do" and "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story"

Thank you for the Years was performed with even more emotion than on previous TV performances, it was a truly heartfelt rendition, both moving, uplifting and emotional. In fact, there are few positive emotions that I didn't experience during this concert. No appearance for my favourite This Is My Life, which was a shame, but how can I complain after such a wonderful performance?!
