Description & Notes

The Black Harem Dress - a stunning cut-out stage gown by Douglas Darnell of black velvet devoré cut away to a leaf design, scattered with Swarovski aquamarine crystals and pale blue iridescent flower-shaped sequins, the bra top, narrow straps and central cross bands similarly decorated with the addition of glass imitation jet pendants and turquoise beads, the bias cut skirt with flowing train additionally embroidered with vari-shaped black sequins; and a corresponding voluminous coat fastening at the shoulder with a stunning three-dimensional stylised orchid of Swarovski aurora borealis crystals of varying sizes, each petal with pendant crystals (2)

This black gown is the partner to the white one in Lot 49 which it pre-dates.
