An ornate stage ensemble by Douglas Darnell
comprising: an unusual strapless gown, the cerise lace ground covered with
cerise sequins, the skirt lined with purple silk tissue and slashed to the waist
to reveal integral trousers of lace, the design of flowerheads and leaves on the
left leg picked out with fuchsia, amethyst and aurora borealis Swarovski
crystals, vari-coloured pink sequins and silver beads continuing to the left
side of the bodice, with matching belt fastening to one side with two long
strands similarly embellished, terminating in tassels of fuchsia silk strands;
with matching voluminous sleeveless coat with flowing train, the caped collar
and edges trimmed with a deep band of fuchsia ostrich feathers, lined in purple
silk tissue; and a pair of matching stiletto heeled sandals customised by
Darnell, the thin straps decorated with cerise sequins, the heels covered with
cerise glitter (3)
