Two stage gowns by Sara Perceval comprising: a
delicate voluminous tunic of emerald green silk chiffon, embroidered to the
scalloped edges with forest green bugle beads, fuchsia sequins and Swarovski
emerald crystals simulating peacock feathers; and
- a three-piece ensemble comprising an elaborate full-sleeved top, the tangerine
silk chiffon ground encrusted with pink and yellow sequins, the scalloped edges
with ruby red and gold bugle beads forming stylised butterfly wings, edged in
tiny gold balls, labelled inside Designed By Sara Perceval, a full-length skirt
of tangerine silk chiffon slit on one side to the upper leg, the slit and hem
edged with ruby red, tangerine and gold bugle beads and tiny gold balls, with
matching turban embellished on one side with a bead rosette.
The photograph illustrated shows Dame Shirley wearing the emerald green tunic in
this lot on stage during the 1970s. The other ensemble in this lot was worn by
Dame Shirley on the front covers of the album You Take
My Heart Away, 1978, and the single I Let You Let Me Down Again, 1977.
