Two flamboyant voluminous sleeveless stage coats
with flowing trains by Douglas Darnell, one encrusted with two-tone shocking
pink sequins, the caped collar and edges trimmed with a deep border of candy
pink ostrich feathers and lined in gold silk tissue; the other embroidered
overall with silver sequins, the caped collar and edges trimmed with a deep
border of white ostrich feathers and lined in candy pink silk tissue.
The photograph illustrated shows Dame Shirley wearing the silver sequin stage
coat in this lot with the black diamante dress in Lot 4 on stage during a
performance in Bournemouth, circa 1985.
