Music written by John Barry (Jonathan Barry Prendergrast) and lyrics by Don Black.

In Italy the film was called "Una Cascata Di Diamanti" and for the Italian soundtrack single Shirley Bassey had recorded the song with Italian lyrics: "Vivo Di Diamanti".

A remix of Shirley's version by "Mantronik" has been released in 2000 on The Remix Album...Diamonds Are Forever. Another recording was on the 1992 album Bassey Sings Bond.

Once again, it all leads to Blofeld, who is bent on putting his own malevolent diamond-studded "Star Wars"-type weapon into space.

Directed by "Goldfinger" 's Guy Hamilton, "Diamonds" features a number of fight scenes, including the thrashing of Bond by two acrobatic women, Bambi and Thumper, and a battle in an ascending elevator. Bond's commandeering of a red Mustang and a "moon-buggy" in two separate scenes are merely designed to lay waste to police cars and desert bikes, an ushering-in of the 1970's "Smokey and the Bandit-style chase films.

Barry's "Diamonds" score is serviceable, while Shirley Bassey returns for a sexy and teasing rendition of Barry's and lyricist Don Black's title theme (the tune mid-charted in both the U.S. and U.K.).

The British Government become suspicious when large shipments of uncut diamonds begin disappearing during transit and then fail to reappear on the international market. When the British Government suspect the existence of a world-wide diamond smuggling operation, James Bond (Sean Connery) is called in to investigate. He soon discovers the extent of the problem and travels to America where a millionaire casino owner is suspected to be behind it all. However, when the casino owner turns out to be none other than Ernst Stavro Blofeld, 007 knows exactly what he must do, and he wants to avenge the death of his wife Tracy. Especially when some of the world's most powerful weapons are involved - and two of the three stooges! The movie had been nominated for an Academy Award for the best sound.

The German title of the movie is "James Bond 007 - Diamantenfieber".
