Sometimes
Lyrics written by Felice Mancini, music by Henry Mancini.

Released in 1977 on the album You Take My Heart Away. This song has never been released on CD.
Don't get confused with the other song Sometimes from 1984.

Felice Mancini had been away from home and, missing her parents, had sent them a poem to say thank you. Her father Henry Mancini subsequently set it to music. Henry Mancini (1924-1994) was one of the most successful composers, arrangers, and conductors. He won four Oscars and twenty Grammies, the all-time record for a pop artist. What kept his work fresh over more than four decades was his ability to write in almost any style imaginable and he successfully experimented with unusual sounds and instruments. It has been said that "more than any other person, he Americanized film scoring," and that Mancini wrote scores that "contained almost as many fully developed song melodies as a Broadway musical." But he preferred writing for film.

For 1961's "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Mancini won five Grammies and two Oscars. This includes the song "Moon River" which has also been recorded by Shirley Bassey. Other songs of Henry Mancini she has interpreted are "Days of Wine and Roses" (1962, one Oscar, two Grammies), "Charade" (1963), and "The Second Time Around" (1961).

When Mancini wrote the jazzy theme music for the TV series "Peter Gunn" and "Mr. Lucky", he had a clause in his contract prohibiting the networks from running spoken "plugs" for upcoming programs over the closing-credit music (this should be done more often). In the 1940's he worked with the Glenn Miller orchestra as a pianist and arranger. In 1954 he was then given the opportunity to arrange the music for "The Glenn Miller Story" which became a labour of love (received an Academy Award nomination).

Lyrics

Sometimes, not often enough
We reflect upon the good things
And those thoughts always centre around those we love

And I think about those people
Who mean so much to me
And for so many years have made me
So very happy

And I count the times I have forgotten to say
Thank you
And just how much I love them

And I think about those people
Who mean so much to me
And for so many years have made me
So very happy

And I count the times I have forgotten to say
Thank you
And just how much I love them
And just how much I need them
And just how much I love them
