Lyrics

The following are the lyrics of Shirley's 1991 version. In the version from 1993 she uses almost the same words, but in a different order.

(Raoul:)
No more talk of darkness
Forget those wide-eyed fears
I'm here, nothing can harm you
My words will warm and calm you

Let me be your freedom
Let daylight dry your tears
I'm here with you, beside you
To guard you and to guide you

(Christine:)
Say you love me
Every waking moment
Turn my head
With talk of summertime

Say you need me
With you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That's all I ask of you

(Raoul:)
Let me be your shelter
Let me be your light
You're safe: No-one will find you
Your fears are far behind you

(Christine:)
All we need is freedom
A world that's warm and right
And you, always behind me
To hold me and to hide me

(Raoul:)
Say you'll share with me
One love, one lifetime
Let me lead you from your solitude

Say you need me with you here, beside you
Anywhere you go, let me go too
That's all I ask of you

(Christine:)
Say the word
And I will follow you

(Both:)
Share each day with me
Each night, each morning

(Shirley:)
Say you feel the way I do
That's all I ask of you
